School's out and summer is in full swing in our household. My oldest DD has a summer job. She's been hired as a Mother's Helper five mornings a week for the month of July. She handed out flyers in church and around the neighborhood shortly after Easter, advertising her services as a mother's helper/babysitter - then she got really upset that no-one called her immediately. But now that school is out she's really busy! Along with her morning job she got a call from someone else who wanted DD to watch her kids while she got some cleaning done. Of course all she's really interested in right now is the money. I think she'll also learn some important life lessons about hard work, commitments and tithing.

DS is learning how to mow the lawn (something DH is taking full advantage of!). And with oldest DD working there will be occasions where DS will be left to babysit one or both of the younger DDs. Coming up in July DS will be going to Boy Scout camp for the first time. (Sleep away, gone for the whole week). I'm a bit nervous and excited for him all at the same time.

Middle DD is enjoying playing with her Littlest Pet Shop toys and her American Girl dolls. I'm also attempting to teach them useful things like cleaning the house. So far they seem to be okay with pitching in. We'll see how well it goes when we attempt to clean their rooms. DD would also like to spend a lot more time crafting and learning to cook.

Youngest DD is taking it all in stride. She seems to enjoy having everyone home with her all day. At least she hasn't come to me yet wanting to know when they're all going back to school. She's normally badgering one of her sisters into playing with her - or begging to go play with the neighbors. She has a workbook that she works on in the mornings with her brother and sister. It's a write-on wipe-off thing that she really enjoys. She's also practicing coloring between the lines in a new coloring book, and learning to color with just one crayon (rather than scribble with a handful). All to enhance small motor skills in preparation for school this fall.
